"River God" by Richard Mteki
Opal Stone
31" high x 12" wide x 8" deep
$3800
Anyone familiar with Shona Sculpture will have heard of
Richard Mteki whose works have been exhibited all over the world. He was born
in Harare, Zimbabwe in 1947. His older brother was one of the first Zimbabwean
sculptors to astound the international art world more than 40 years ago.
Richard Mteki is influenced by the natural shape of the raw stone and rarely
disturbs it to any significant extent. Despite his economical style, his
sculptures evoke much mood and emotion.
